Breadcrumb

Everything Breadcrumb records stays on your Mac, encrypted, in a folder you own.

There are two times when Breadcrumb reaches out to grab something from the internet.

1. On first install Breadcrumb downloads the AI models it runs locally. Three downloads, from three places you can check:
   • Ollama, the runtime that serves the models, from GitHub.
   • Gemma 3 4B, the model that names your moments and meetings, from ollama.com.
   • Parakeet, the speech-to-text model for meetings, from Hugging Face.

   The voice-separation model ships inside the app, so nothing to fetch there.

2. Once a day Breadcrumb checks for an update. It uses Sparkle, the open source Mac updater, and you can read exactly how that works. Profiling is off. The only thing sent is the version of Breadcrumb you're running, which it needs to know whether an update is owed.

Breadcrumb and your AI

Just to be clear no data gets sent to us. That said, the whole point of Breadcrumb is to make your AI better at knowing you. So if your AI asks Breadcrumb something Breadcrumb is going to give it the answer and that is going to get sent to your AI the same way as anything you type. If you run a local AI nothing gets sent anywhere, but if you use a cloud service like Claude or ChatGPT then it will get sent to them the same way as anything else you type, and the privacy policy will be theirs.

Meetings and voices

When Breadcrumb transcribes a meeting it does the following:

1. Records the audio
2. Transcribes the audio
3. Works out who said what
4. Deletes the audio

It doesn't build a voice profile of anyone. What that means is Breadcrumb doesn't keep a voice print in a file to try to recognize the same person in multiple meetings. We use a different method which isn't perfect but it does work a lot of the time. Basically, we try to figure out the person speaking from the name on the screen.

Something important that we'd really like you to know: when you're on a call with people let them know that Breadcrumb is transcribing the call and get their OK. See terms for more details.

This website

Our website uses the Laravel framework and as such uses the Laravel session cookie. We have regular server logs like every other website where we keep the IP, the page path, and the time. Our logs are deleted in a 14 day log rotation cycle and we don't look at them anyway.

Lightspeed

Lightspeed is a very new open source project. It's a framework that anyone else can use and run on their servers. That's not really anything to do with us since we have no access to their server.

Lightwave

Lightwave is in private beta only two people using it. And if you're the other person who is using it and reading this then I'm hoping you're OK with all the privacy stuff.
